Newmind Announces New CEO

Some of you may have heard that there is big news coming from Newmind in the new year? Well 2014 is officially here and it is time to reveal what we’ve got up our sleeves.

Should we do a drumroll or something?   Nah.  I’ll just tell you.

I’m really excited to announce that our own Matt Vollmar will be taking the CEO role at Newmind and leading us into 2014 and beyond!

For those of you that have had the pleasure of meeting Matt this might not come as a surprise. After spending only a short time with him it is easy to see why he is CEO material.

If you haven’t met Matt yet you might be interested to know that he returned to Newmind at the beginning of 2013 after spending 5 years managing technology delivery teams for Hewlett Packard. We like to think that we sent him away to this world-class environment for “CEO training” but there was probably more to it than that.  ;)

New Strengths to Help Customers Grow

Every year we ask ourselves how we can improve the service that we provide customers. Matt has a set of strengths that will help us stay focused on this goal, including:
  • Delivering excellent service with a focus on relationships
  • Data-based approach to service delivery and customer satisfaction
  • Increasing customer satisfaction while managing costs
  • Organizing and managing a large team
  • Team coaching and growth
  • Listening closely to customers and understanding their needs
If you can’t tell, I am really excited about working with Matt in his new role. If I’ve got you a little excited too you could always apply, we are hiring after all. :)

A New Role, Doing What I Love

Some of you might be thinking…
“But Dan, you founded the company and you’ve been running it for the last 9 years.   Why would you want to hand the top leadership spot to Matt?”
I will give you two simple reasons.

First, Matt’s strengths are a better fit for the company that Newmind is quickly growing to become.

We now have over 1000 customers across the United States that trust us with some part of their organization's critical technology and we are adding new people to our team quickly. Matt has managed teams many times larger than Newmind is today and that experience is incredibly valuable as we grow.

Second, I want to have time to focus on things I’m passionate about.

One of the reasons Newmind has grown over the years is because we have been ahead of the curve when it comes to the technology that our customers need. We start building our expertise in technologies like cloud messaging, cloud backup, Chromebooks and telepresence robotics 2-3 years before our customers are ready for them.

Why do we do this? Because we want to provide customers with the honest, practical guidance that only comes from experience.

I’m passionate about keeping Newmind customers “ahead” and I’m excited to have more time to focus on this passion.

2014 and Beyond

2013 has been an amazing year for Newmind.  I’m so thankful for our team, our partners and most of all, our clients.  If we didn’t have some of my favorite people as clients, my work wouldn’t be as fun as it is every day.

I’m looking forward to a fantastic 2014, with a new captain steering the ship.
